Australia welcomes skilled workers.   The numbers of workers required for various trades and professionals varies over time.  The General Skilled categories of visa are made up of a number of subclasses including: 

Independent
Australian Sponsored
Designated Area Sponsored
Regional State/Territory Sponsored
Independent Overseas Student
Designated Area Sponsored Overseas Student
Australian Sponsored Overseas Student
Onshore New Zealand Citizen categories

 In addition, before lodging an application, all principal applicants must undergo an Occupation Skills Assessment through the nominated assessing authority in Australia.

 Currently, all applications are lodged and decided in Adelaide, in South Australia.

Applicants from all countries other than Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States of America must be prepared to sit and pass an English Language test, the IELTS test, before your visa application is decided.
